Going Green(er)

Off the Grid

Living just outside of Boulder, it is hard not to get caught-up in the “green” frenzy. Not that we were not into it before. It always made sense to conserve, recycle and look into new innovations for our energy future. But I think we even surprised ourselves when we signed the papers for a full house solar electric system. We have done other smaller projects like a new furnace and better insulation. But this is by far the biggest. Our house is not totally off the electric grid (technically, the system is grid tied so when the panels produce more than we use, it goes out into the grid and we get credited for it). So yeah us!

And, I can totally geek out on the gee whiz techno side of this!

A plug for the company that did this for us: Independent Power Systems of Boulder was an incredible group of people. From the first estimate to the final turn on, their people were professional, meticulous, and did a fantastic job. If you are in the market, www.solarips.com
