Caden 18 Months

It seems like overnight Caden has turned from baby to little boy. He is now walking, talking, running, climbing and getting in mischief just like a little boy should.

This month at his well check-up he got the last of his shots and won’t have anymore until he’s five (gulp!) Dr Bob declared him an “official” string bean at 32 inches tall (75th %ile) and only 23 1/2 lbs (20th %ile)! He’s in good health though developing perfectly normally.

Caden has all of a sudden started saying a lot more. It seems as if almost every day he comes up with a new word or two to say--not to mention his signing which is also growing in vocabulary. He’s now saying about 20 words and signing upwards of 50. Some of his recent favorite words to say include...Hot (EVERYTHING is hot), NO, baby, up, out, oh man, apple & ELMO.

Speaking of Elmo--Caden is obsessed with Elmo. He had never really watched Sesame Street until recently but had Elmo slippers and an Elmo phone but nonetheless he is in LOVE with him. Thanks to his obsession this month he’s acquired an Elmo doll (thanks Grandma!), an Elmo shirt and an Elmo DVD. Second to Elmo are babies. He just loves them and thinks they’re really cute! Everytime we see one (doll or real) he ooo’s and ahh’s over them and says and signs baby, baby, baby on and on and then plays with them for as long as he can. So this month he also got a baby and a baby stroller which are equally fun!

Caden continues to become more and more independent...or at least he wants to be. He is VERY opinionated about what he does and what shoes he wears. Mostly he prefers to wear his Elmo slippers or his Nike’s that his cousin Nick got him even though they’re still too big. If he doesn’t like what is going on he lets you know LOUD & clear! He is starting to throw fits and scream and kick. However, thus far this only seems to happen with Mom and Dad--lucky us! I think the terrible twos are coming on fast!!!

However, Caden continues to be a complete joy to Jon and I. He is so much fun to be with and loves each and every new thing we do. We feel truly blessed to have such a wonderful little boy to enjoy life with!!!
