Lemonade Stand

There really is no question where Caden gets his sense of community and charity from; his mom. The amount of effort he puts into volunteering and working for those who need a little more help is enough to make anyone wonder what he might be getting out of it. He has been doing food drives for awhile, but now he and Katy have started volunteering every week at the food bank sorting and organizing food. And he doesn’t get anything for doing it, no treats, no promises of going out to eat no other prizes. He just works hard for the sake of doing the job.

Then there are the lemonade stands. Caden with his helpers has done a number of these, and under Katy’s guidance, each one was to raise money for a cause. For awhile it was just to donate to a charity, then it was to raise money for his Cousin Nick’s European soccer tour. Today, it was to raise money for his Cousin Anna’s double lung transplant. It was a spontaneous decision to do it today ( with today being the first day of Fall). And he made his sign, set-up in front of Grandma’s house (lots of traffic there), and made over $150!!!! That is amazing. He was out there telling everyone his story of why he was out there and showing each person a picture of him with Anna and people responded very well.

I know he is just 5, but I think he understands this. I am not good at this sort of thing; never have been. Caden begs to do it. And under Katy’s guidance, he is no doubt always going to be someone who thinks of others first and works hard to help them. Keep watching this boy...he is going to amaze us all.

Oh yeah, and he raised nearly $400 for his Jog-a-Thon. He ran (seriously ran the whole time), 1.5miles in 20 minutes (12 laps). Big surprise to Grandma who pledged $10 per lap....
