Our Lakeside Property
A quick post to show some real epic Colorado weather. Experts are calling it between a 100 or 500 year flood. I don’t trust experts and I think a flood like this can happen every year, but it is epic. Our little creek by the path by our house has shown us something spectacular. The worst we have ever seen it in our 8 years here is rushing along at maybe 15 feet wide. At this very second, it is running incredibly fast at over 100 yards wide. Taking the bridge, cow pasture, trail and the golf course with it. Truly amazing. We are staying up late tonight with a pre-evacuation warning as the rain continues to fall. But believe it or not, our basement hasn’t flooded! Wish us luck....
Some pictures
This used to be a trail and a golf course
These pictures were taken this morning. Already the flood is cresting and making much havoc...but there is much more coming
By the afternoon and early evening, the water wiped out the curve and started working its way onto the main path. Everything was covered in many feet of water.
This is a great picture. This bench sits about 8 feet above the normally small creek that is no more that 20 feet across if you measure the entire creak bed. Now, the water is at the bench and goes as far as you can see...maybe over 100 yards to the hill in the distance. And it isn’t just standing water...it is all moving fast.
And a video
Some new photos to show the aftermath
