Molly’s First Day of PreSchool
And just like last week’s blog post, we have another big announcement. Molly started PreSchool today. And with the same bundle of emotions, Mommy and Daddy have been getting ready for this moment. All indications are that Molly will have no problem being left behind without us in a new place with new people. She has had the benefit of seeing her brother go through this and spending a lot of time at this school with him. But Molly is a might bit unpredictable at all things um...everything. Maybe she would throw a fit just cause she wanted to, maybe her many fears would come through here too. Or worst of all, maybe she would be perfectly fine and not miss us at all...
We started this morning by all of us biking and dropping off Caden at his school before heading home for a brief time before bringing in Molly for her big day. Us parents contemplated for a bit how different this go-around seemed than last time. For me, Molly seems too small to go to any sort of school, even though she is well ahead of most kids her age. Still, how can we take our baby to school?!
Molly didn’t get much sleep (again) and didn’t eat her breakfast (again)...we are hoping she sees the error of these ways as she start getting very busy. But we let that all slide and got her all prettied up (not a big step for her) and headed to school. And in true Molly fashion, the second we pulled up to the school, she said:
“Bye Mommy. Bye Daddy!”
And we said,
“Um, no Molly, we will take you in.”
To which she said,
“No, I got it.”
To which we said,
“No, we actually have to take you in.”
To which she concluded,
“Fine! This time I guess, but then you have to leave.”
And that was pretty much it. We showed her a few things, she picked her first activity and we headed out with her looking right at us. There was a second there she looked a little uncertain and on the verge of crying, but she didn’t shed a tear. So brave.
When we picked her up, as we expected, she was toast. She was sitting in a chair in the middle of the playground barley moving and eyes weighing heavy. She couldn’t say a word she was so tired. Mr. Eli came right over and asked us what sort of things she enjoys, cause she apparently had a very hard time engaging in any one thing. But I think that is how she gets her bearings. She will focus and engage in the coming weeks here. And maybe with some sleep and food, she will actually be awake to enjoy it!
And like Caden’s big day, here is my very favorite picture below (a hard choice with her)...and the rest are here.
Molly started in good form....
