Obama

Being in the swing state of Colorado, there have been PLENTY of chances to see Obama speak both in this and the ’08 elections. Even after spending a good chunk of our time in 2008 campaigning, we still never got a chance to see our President speak. But no more. Obama was coming for a second visit to the University of Colorado in Boulder and we were going to make the effort. And I will be honest, it was one hell of an effort. Getting the tickets was easy. Going to our local office and standing in line for tickets for maybe an hour. But it was Sunday that was the big deal. We lined up at 9am for a 10am opening of the doors (it was actually in an outdoor quad). There were two MASSIVE lines, seriously at least 1/2 mile long a piece. Took about 1.5 hours to get into the venue. We knew he would speak sometime between 11 and 1pm. It was of course 1:30 when he spoke, maybe 2. Before that, we had lots of crowds intense heat and no water. We got to see some of our other elected leaders speak and some good stories from students. The crowds were getting restless though. But no matter, when the man came out, all the waiting and sweating was forgotten. He gave a half-hour speech that pumped the crowed and got us out campaigning again for another four years.

I won’t get on my soap box and preach my political views (but this is our blog so I could if I wanted to!), but we believe in Obama and are over-excited to see him and to see the tens of thousands of supporters around him. FOUR MORE YEARS!!!

Finally we got to see our president speak!

Getting the tickets...kids should get in on the act early!

Kendra (a newly christened CU student and grandma joined us of course!
