Molly at 7 Months
Molly, Molly, Molly--what can we say? Its ALWAYS SOMETHING!
Per our 6 month update we cannot say that we are caught up on sleep--but things are better most of the time. After a lot of sleep training and adding in an extra cereal feeding right before bed Molly began doing better and is fully capable of sleeping 8+ hours straight IF and only IF EVERYTHING in her world is perfect. This only seems to be able to happen for 5 days straight though before something screws it up.
This month we got on a roll with sleep several times which is a VAST improvement from where we were before. The first time it was screwed up by switching her to generic Prevecid (her acid reflux medicine) after about a week of wondering what the $#%# was going on we figured out that either the medicine didn’t work OR she is allergic to something in the generic form. ARGH!!! Very frustrating but it was a fairly easy fix and she was back on track in a few days. The other side affect of the medicine switch is that it screwed up her system and she became unable to be “regular” with her bowel movements--for THREE + weeks. After many, many diet changes, laxatives, and an enema not working we ended up getting an xray to determine she had an impacted bowel. However, after just two does of Milk of Magnesia (turns out there is no actual milk in that) it worked and she had a massive blow out. I think that’s the first time ever Jon and I have cheered for a blow out!
Otherwise Molly is doing fantastic! She is truly a delight most of the time (its just at night that her head spins). She still LOVES playing with toys--especially Caden’s, is very proficient at sitting up and schooching on her back. She has somehow forgot how to roll from her tummy to her back now and gets herself stuck on her tummy a lot now but that’s good as she is having more tummy time and starting to try to schooch forward!
Her other huge accomplishment this month is eating puffs (small water soluble cereal treats). She is a true addict now and really ONLY wants to eat puffs. And after many, many, many hours spent practicing she can now put them in her mouth herself and boy oh boy is she impressed with this feat! Molly’s diet has continued to expand in other ways too. She now eats carrots, sweet potatoes, squash, peas, avocado, peaches (she HATES peaches--see video) and pears!
Caden and Molly continue to be best of buds and they play together more and more each day. Its now become an afternoon ritual for Caden to go upstairs on his own to say hello to her after she wakes up from her nap. Its so cute to hear him through the monitor go in and have a little conversation with her!
Molly is also really starting to enjoy getting out and about. She now enjoys our daily walks and happily rides in the stroller or baby carrier and enjoys going in the car places too. We definitely have come a LONG way in 7 months!
