Trip to Breckenridge
If it was up to me, I would bring my family with me on every business trip. Got the opportunity this time. The annual Guidance, Navigation & Control conference is held in Breckenridge every year. This was my first year going and since it is five days long, of course I dragged the fam along! The conference is designed around skiing, so there are only sessions in the morning and evening leaving the rest of the day to ski. It is almost a sin, but none of us decided to ski for the entire week we were up there. Between money and various illness, it wasn’t worth the trouble. Se we spent out time in the pool, out on the town, hanging out with the kids and taking a much needed break...and sitting through some 30+ hours of lectures (for daddy anyway). It was a lot of fun, mommy really enjoyed not having to worry about anything other than what to do with the kids. No house issues, no family obligations, nothing but play time. And it turns out the conference is very family friendly. Katy and the kids joined me for a number of activities including the Surrey hosted Super Bowl Party, a kid friendly buffet for the technical display session and even an opportunity to come to a banquet with an astronaut as the guest speaker (they skipped that, no way was Caden sitting for 2 hours for anyone). And while it was not all easy (Molly had issues sleeping in a hotel without her own room), it was a welcome escape.
