1 Month Old Already

We’ve made it through one month & what a 1st month its been! It went fast & was fun...but it was definitely a difficult one for all of us!

At Molly’s 1 month appointment she weighed in at 8lbs 13oz--50th %ile, is 21 1/8” long--50%ile and is in the 75th %ile for head size. She is definitely growing and thriving which is wonderful to hear given all of the spit up and trouble she’s had!

Molly continues to struggle with something...what exactly we’re not sure. None of the medications for acid reflux seemed to help much so we decided to take her off of that and try other things. So, now Mom is on a Wheat, Dairy & Caffeine free diet and it might be helping...we’re not quite sure. But something did change a few days ago and she became MUCH happier which is awesome. She’s started smiling, and is usually quite happy after her feedings now and plays and is content for awhile which was a BIG step for us.

We still have 2-4 hours a day of pretty solid screaming at night (our worst was 8 hours) which is hard for everyone. Dr Bob our pediatrician is deeming her condition Colic...ARGH. Really this doesn’t mean much other then that she’s a fussy baby. The good news is that if it is colic she’ll grow out of it in 2-3 months, but if its not we still have to figure out what it is. The next guess would be lactose intolerance which would mean taking her off of breast milk and trying soy. If things don’t get better we’ll try that...but we’re reluctant do to that as it would likely make it hard for her to go back on breast milk after doing so much of the bottle if it wasn’t lactose intolerance. But, we’ll do what we need to do. In the mean time we’re all trying to get out of the house and take breaks as needed and Mom and Dad are partaking in the occasional glass of wine to help as well!

Caden and Molly continue to be the best of friends. Caden is such a great big brother and is always worried about Molly and wanting to play with her...his only complaint thus far is that she sleeps too much. Its funny because Mom and Dad don’t see it that way. They spend a lot of time each day playing on blankets & with her activity gym and every night Caden wants her to lay in his bed with him while Daddy reads stories...very sweet.
