Staycation or Elmo?

To make a long story short our whole family was supposed to be in San Diego this past weekend but plans changed and we had to cancel our trip. So, we were left in unfamiliar territory...3 days at home with absolutely nothing on the calendar when Jon found that Elmo & his Sesame Street friends were going to be doing a show in Casper, WY--just 4 hours away (the closest they’d be to Denver). Knowing that Caden would absolutely love the show we booked a hotel and got tickets to see Elmo!

The day before we left for Wyoming we spent Friday taking Caden to the Butterfly Pavilion for the first time, going out to lunch and enjoying dinner on the Deck...a great, lazy day.

The next morning, we packed up the car and headed north. Caden once again proved to be an excellent road tripper and napped in the car just as we planned so he was rested and ready to go when we got there. The Elmo show was very cute. Caden REALLY, REALLY, enjoyed the first 1/2 hour and then was a little distracted but all in all he loved it...mostly. He wasn’t thrilled when the characters came out into the audience to say hi. On TV, Elmo is 2 feet tall. Not 7 feet. But, he got lots of Elmo loot and had a great time.

We spent the rest of our time in Casper enjoying a nice meal out where Caden flirted with the waitress...talking and blowing kisses and then walked around town. Our hotel turned out to be less than optimal so we headed out early and stopped in Cheyenne to visit our friends Joann, Dane & their two kids who had just moved to town. For some reason though we don’t have any pictures of this visit...must have been too busy with the kids.
