Caden’s Dedication
Katy goes to a non-denominational christian church and in this type of church often infants are dedicated rather then baptized. A dedication is where the parents commit to raising their child in the christian faith. This works perfect for our family as Caden is being raised half christian and half in Jon’s faith.
At our church the infant dedications happen every Mother’s Day weekend and this year we were able to participate! It was a simple ceremony with few songs, a sermon and then the dedication where we said a few vows about our faith and our commitment to raising Caden in a christian home. Due to the huge baby boom in our area last year there was quite a turn out...75 babies were dedicated!
Caden dressed up for the occasion in his tux (from Beth’s wedding) and put on quite a show. He learned how to spit/razz really well the day before and did that constantly. He also learned during the ceremony how to stand up but put his head down by his feet--he was quite proud of himself!
