Six Months=1/2 a Year!

Caden has officially crossed the half year mark! Its hard to believe that he has already been around that long, but at the same time it seems like he’s been around forever!

At Caden’s six month Dr.'s appointment he weighed in at 17lbs 10 oz...50th %ile in weight, 60th in height & 80th in head! He was declared perfectly healthy and ahead of schedule in his movement. Most importantly to him, he was given the go ahead to start eating food! Yippee!! The Dr suggested starting with yellow and orange vegetables and then moving onto other things. We started out with Sweet Potatoes and Caden loved it. He was initially a bit taken aback by the new taste, but now he’s a pro and eating whole jarfuls at a time. He’s also a fan of carrots & biter biscuits. He’s tried Cheerios as well, but isn’t sure about those yet.

This month Caden has learned how to roll all over the place--back to front, front to back & in all directions. He’s also learned how to sit up better, pull himself up sideways in the crib (the mattress has been lowered), is sleeping halfway un-swaddled and on his tummy and side from time to time. This month we have also started teaching Caden baby sign. He can’t do any signs yet (probably won’t until closer to 1yr) but we’re signing to him and watching videos with him that teach it as well. Baby sign is supposed to help children learn to speak earlier and avoid temper tantrum over not being able to communicate--hopefully it will work!
