Caden’s 5th Birthday

Happy 5 Caden

Of course the first thing I am going to say is “HOW CAN HE ALREADY BE 5?!?!?!?” Really it is startling that we already blazed through 5 years with our boy (See his past birthdays here: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th). But sure enough, here we are. I probably don’t have to say how amazing Caden is now that he is practically grown-up. I would list all the things he can do now, but that seems to be unnecessary now that he so big. He continues to be one of his teachers favorites and continues to amaze us on how well he understands anything he wishes to understand. Just the other day, he and I had a big conversation about the concept of infinity...pretty deep stuff for a Pre K’er. Come next year, he will make the big step to Kindergarden and of course his mom and I will fall apart while he steps in and tells us, “I Got This.” As I write this, Caden is sitting down on the floor next to me working on a 200 piece puzzle by himself...he just finished Venus. As another bonus, we think Caden’s behavior has also turned a corner. I should preface this first by saying nobody who knows Caden (teachers, friends, friends parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents), has ever said anything negative about his behavior and anytime we have complained about how hard he can be at home, they say we must lying and just looking for attention. But, believe us or not, he is actually quite polite to us now and very helpful to his little sister who, I can say this now (later I will pay for it), is a handful. Other specifics from Caden’s well-check. Happy and healthy and all around average in size. 37lbs and 41” I think. He had lots of shots and blood drawn and wasn’t a fan, but he did well as can be expected.

Of course, we threw him a big party, cause that is how we roll. He had a party at home before his birthday (like 60 people came), and celebrated his actual birthday on election day at Chuck E Cheeses with us...and I am happy to say, it was a very good day!
