Happy Holidays 2018
I can’t tell if I think way too much time has passed since I wrote the last holiday card or if it was just like yesterday. Because it seems like the year went fast but way to much happened to fit into a year.
At the high level, let’s go over everyone’s year:
Katy: Yoga, Yoga, Yoga. As of publishing this letter, Katy has completed Yin Yoga teacher training and is moments away from completing the 200 hour Power Yoga Teacher Training. She has also started working at her sister Beth’s office. Then there is the normal day-to-day taking care of the family. So, as usual, not busy. She also turned 40 this year and hasn’t slowed down an inch. All the work this year is going to lead to lots of new possibilities next year and we are all excited to see what it brings!
Jon: Changed jobs again. In December 2017, quit LGS. In January 2018, started back at Ball Aerospace again. It has been a great return to aerospace with lots more opportunity. He is very happy to be back. Along with many house projects that could have led to divorce (garage), life continues to be very busy. Being selfish, the most exciting thing that happened was getting the Tesla Model 3 that we have been waiting for for 2.5 years. Worth it.
Caden: Is now 11 and in 5th grade (holy s*&t). That means next year he starts middle school. This is not very popular with the parents and there is a general consensus that we would like to start over. Caden continues to play soccer, rock climb, ski and, in-general, never stop moving. He is doing great in-school and is incredibly hard on himself about anything short of perfection (we are working on this). He did his first sleep-away camp this summer with a 3-day soccer camp in Steamboat. Very impressive. He is becoming a young man with more responsibility everyday. It is amazing (and horrible) watching him grow.
Molly: 8 and in 2nd grade. She continues to be naturally good at whatever she tries and applies herself too. She can read any book, draw any picture and create art in all mediums at a level most never achieve. She enjoys making dresses for dolls and beautiful drawings for her family. Gymnastics continues to be a big part of her life, though we are on a bit of a hold as she gets through some ankle injuries. Horses and American Girl Dolls became her passion this year with no sign that her enthusiasm will fade. She got through this year without any surgeries and continues to grow into a beautiful young lady. If I was concerned about Caden growing-up above, I can’t even stomach watching Molly!
As always, travel was central to the Chapman Clan this year. We spent New Years in San Diego but the highlight was a European vacation this summer that was nothing short of spectacular (post here). There were also many trips to Portland to visit with Katy’s parents and another visit to Minneapolis for Thanksgiving. It was a busy year, so maybe not as many places, but we did do well and enjoyed our little spot of land here in Colorado.
Life is work, life is busy, but life is really good. Made better everyday by those we surround ourselves with. So we hope this letter finds you & yours well and we hope to cross paths with you in 2019.
Love,
Jon, Katy, Caden and Molly
