Christmas 2014
Hello Friends and Family!
It sounds so cliche but this year has literally flown by. Its been a year full of lots of fun, travel, challenges and growth for our family.
As always, travel was a focus for us this year with many fun adventures, new experiences and memories for all! We started out the year with a trip for Mom and Dad to Sonoma with friends which was a much needed break for us. Spring break was a super fun family trip to Washington DC to see the sights and Norfolk, VA to visit Aunt Karen and Uncle Mark and our in-utero new cousin. Once summer hit we took a road trip up to Minneapolis to see The Kinneavy-Lee clan and had a blast touring the city and having lots of cousin time. A spontaneous camping trip to Rocky Mountain National Park turned out to be one of the best since having kids and several other summer activities kept us busy. Then came the big and highly anticipated 2nd Disney Cruise and it was just as amazing as the 1st. Then the also highly anticipated Thanksgiving trip to meet the newest member of our family Baby Maddie which was a joy for everyone!
This year’s big event for Caden (7) was finishing up Kindergarten and starting 1st grade--which means full day school for the first time. Everyone was worried about how this transition would go, but as always Caden did great and is loving being in school and amongst his peers all day, every day...despite it being exhausting! Caden is continuing his work in Speech Therapy this year, in swim lessons with his good friends Will and Wes each week and looking forward to starting swim team this summer. He also began Karate this fall and is really loving and excelling in this and has become a Denver Broncos fanatic, watches all of the games, talks stats and players with Daddy and plays mini-games with his neighbor friend Logan often. He also is doing fantastic in school--excels at math, is starting to really read on his own which is so exciting and loves doing his weekly homework assignments!
Molly (4), is in her second year of preschool and still loving it. She continues to prove herself as a leader amongst her peers and is very, very smart. Despite likely waiting an extra year before starting kindergarten (because she’s on the young and small end) she has moved up to the Pre-K group at school and is really excelling at writing, math and is showing interest in learning to read. Molly is a busy girl with playdates and is also doing swim lessons, gymnastics and dance with her besties Bailey and Maggie. She also tried soccer for the first time this fall...not her thing. This fall came another round of testing and lots of dr’s appointments for poor Molly but this time, we think we are on the right track towards her feeling better which is very exciting!!!
All of the above has meant us parents have had a very busy year. For Katy the school changes have meant having chunks of time without kids for the first time in 7 years. Surprisingly, this was a hard change for her, but she has found the time flies by just catching up on daily life, volunteering in both of the kids schools and occasionally she finds a few minutes to exercise and do a little work on her Arbonne business, which has had to take a back seat over the past year. Jon is still working at LGS Innovations and is now a Technical Manager and really enjoying it. He did the Tough Mudder adventure race for the 2nd time and is signed up for next year already! He’s hoping Katy will do it with him this time (don’t hold your breath!)
All four of us LouisvilleChapmans are very excited about having ski passes this year and love skiing (boarding for Jon). We have already done our first day up at Keystone and had a blast...many more days and weekends to come! Both kids LOVE it and are excelling on the slopes.
As we look forward to 2015 and reflect back on 2014 we are amazed at how blessed we are. We hope this letter finds you and your family happy, healthy and that 2015 brings you a year full of joy, adventures and prosperity!
Love,
Jon, Katy, Caden & Molly Chapman
