Caden Turns 7
We just went on a cruise so it must also be Caden’s birthday. Last year we celebrated it on the high seas, this year we got back just in time to plan a party (4 actually) and cry for hours as our baby boy turned 7. Caden this year thankfully had his party all planned out. There would be a party at a local pottery studio with a select few (11) friends. There would be a family party with the local crew (20). There would be a smaller family party with just the immediate and grand parents. And finally a movie party for anyone interested.
All were a smashing success of course.. Grandpa David (just recently retired and at the start of his spirit quest), drove out for the big days much to Caden’s excitement. On Thursday morning Caden woke up to superheroes everywhere (thanks of course to his always amazing mom). His day was full of recognition at school and special meals at his request. The night ended with the 6 of us at CPK for a party weekend kick-off dinner.
Friday was the family birthday. We started cooking pulled pork the night before and made a cake during the day. Everyone who is anyone (and related to us...which is everyone I swear), came over that evening. We enjoyed eating, singing, dancing and making Caden feel awesome.
Saturday was the friends party. Caden opted for an away party this time at Crack Pots. A place to paint pottery an have a bit of fun. It was a great time and much easier on the parents. He had 11 friends painting sharks, princesses and treasure chests. Wrapping it up with a cupcake montage of the the bat symbol (not our best work I am sorry to say).
Sunday finished it off with a small contingent of the family (8) going to see Big Hero 6 (highly recommend it). All and all, a solid weekend that was tons of fun, met the expectations of our son (we have set the bar very high) and ultimately was a lot easier on us to plan and pull off.
