Pre K First Day
Here we are again at another first day of school for our ever growing son. Looking back at other first days (here and here), we recognize with both relief and sorrow that these days are getting easier. Relief of course because from his actual first day two years ago to now, he is a grown boy. He loves school, wants to go and never looks back after saying good-bye. Sorrow because he never looks back after saying goodbye. This is all good of course. This year he is up to four days a week, three hours a day. That is where he should be in natural progression of things, but man is it exhausting on the poor kid. His class is in the afternoon so there is no chance for a nap really. He does the morning things with mom and Molly then hits the books the rest of day. He is thoroughly wiped out by bedtime. Sadly, that is school. No time to be a kid. That is harsh, his school is all play based learning so it isn’t that bad--in fact, he LOVES IT. But all of us are having to adjust to the routine of the school year (wow, look at that, I am worrying about the school year as a parent now).
It does look like it will be a good year for him with some new friends (and a girlfriend we think) and the same teachers he adores. We will also enjoy another year of volunteering and helping out where we can. Next year, Caden moves on to Kindergarden and Molly takes his place at JSP. We will be long time parents here!
Our boy in his 3rd year at Jefferson Street Preschool. Now a proud PreK-er.
