Caden--23 Months

As repetative as it may sound Caden has changed A LOT recently. He has fully turned into a little boy and enjoys all boy things. Playing in the dirt, talking about poop, biking, climbing, jumping on and off things and yelling--LOUD! He also turned into a total chatterbox. He’s now saying lots more words and will try to say almost anything--unless he’s not in the mood as he’s VERY stubborn. He is combining words (sometimes even three at a time!), using some prepositions and trying to convey most of his thoughts through words rather then signing. Every day he comes up with new words to say which is very cute!

Caden still loves to be outside and we continue to spend a lot of time in the backyard playing with his cars, bike & house, digging in the sand and working in our garden. He LOVED our garden this year and it proved to be a very good way to get him to try vegetables. Notice I say try. Normally he would bite into whatever he got (green beans, tomatoes, peas) and then spit them out and say yuck! However, after a few tries he did eat a couple of green beans and several peas. Its a small but exciting step in the right direction. One of Caden’s other favorite past times is playing blocks...he’ll sit and/or ask you to sit with him and stack them and knock them down (usually via kicking) for hours. He has several sets and could do it all day I think. He has also suddenly taken a great interest in coloring & doing puzzles. Oh and how can I forget his obsession continues with Elmo!!!

This fall Caden started taking a couple of new classes: Music and Gymboree. At Gymboree he takes a play and music class that he LOVES. They do a lot of imaginary play which he is really getting into and they are able to play on lots of fun equipment (slides, monkey bars, air lots & more). He absolutely LOVES Gymboree and squeals every time we pull into the parking lot! We also started a new music class called Music with Madelyn at the Wow! Children’s Museum in Lafayette. He wasn’t quite as sure about this one at first but now is totally into it and says “moozik” all the time and snaps his fingers up in the air and dances while he says it. Very cute!
