Katy Chapman, aka, Super Woman

June 29, 200820 photos

Here is a short list of really exhausting things: Taking care of a 7 month old precocious baby, working “part-time” as a realtor, taking care of a house/garden/yard, planning a large birthday bash for your 70 year old dad. Any one of those is enough to keep a normal mortal busy. Doing all of those things everyday takes someone made of a tougher material. But doing all those AND training for and completing a triathlon?!!?! That takes Katy. I kid you not all of you who are reading this now, Katy, not 6 months after having a baby started training for a triathlon and just today, beat her expected race time by an hour. This included a half-mile swim in open water, an 11-mile bike ride mostly uphill, and a 5k run in 80+ degree weather. All in one hour and 35 minutes. I tell you, I knew I married well and all, but watching Katy get up at 5 am everyday for the past 2 months to train, then seeing her pull this off...damn.

Katy on the last stretch of her triathlon

3:30 am race day. Suited up, tattooed, and ready to jump in a freezing lake. Seriously, what were you doing at this time?

Obviously a super woman’s child. All dressed-up and ready to cheer!

Katy and Sarah (who also completed the triathlon even though she was on vacation the 3 weeks just before it!)

LET’S ROLL!

5 minutes after jumping in, she is all done!

Ever the dedicated fan/son...Caden won’t take his eyes off the action

Hey! He woke up at 3:30 am alright!?

The photographer was too slow to actually get a photo of the start of the bike leg...but here she is finishing it!

At the start of the run with her support crew: Kristen, Beth and John. Noteworthy information is that Beth and Kristen ran the whole 5 k with Katy AND then again with Sarah. Even more noteworthy is that Kendra ran the whole 5k alongside Sarah with flip-flops!!!

The proud son with his super mom after the race...kisses for the winner

Go Mom! GO! (brought to you by Caden and the good people at Crocs footwear)

They Came. They Saw. They Had a Blast!

What a transition area looks like

You would think he was the one who did the race

Summary movie of today’s excitement!
