Five Months & Kicking!

Today Caden is 5 months old and he is WILD!!! In just the past week or two its like a switch flipped and he learned how to bounce, really scream, lean and reach!

His new favorite toys include our Mega Saucer which he bounces and goes wild in, plastic rings that he bangs around and mostly drops everywhere and his Jonny Jump Up & a new bouncing toy at his Aunt Kristen’s house (photos will be here soon) both of which he’s still trying to figure out.

He is a determined little guy now and lunges, leans and reaches to whatever he might want at that moment. This has made nursing him a whole new experience as now he just goes in for the kill anytime, anywhere.

He has also started sitting up a lot better. He can’t totally do it yet but he is getting REALLY close. He can sit for about 30 seconds at a time now before he tips over.

Drooling, chewing on everything in sight (especially mom’s face) and his yelping continue to be daily, hourly and minute by minute events.

Eating is still one of his favorite activities. He eats his cereal 1 or 2 times a day now and to celebrate his birthday today he tried oatmeal for the first time. Of course, he LOVED it! He is definitely ready to try more foods (he will get to closer to 6 months) every time he sees people eating now he starts drooling and if possible reaches for the food and pulls it to his mouth.

Sleep continues to be a battle for our household but we’re getting closer. This week we tried a new technique of putting him in larger diapers to see if that would help prevent his waking up from wet diapers. It is helping--he slept through the night 4 times this week which is way better but we’re still going to try to find some thicker diapers. That boy does NOT like wet pants!

Spring is here in colorado--that means snow one day 70 degree weather the next. Caden really enjoys being outside and looking at all of the flowers, plants and people. We take Lucia out on a walk most days and we all enjoy that. This weekend we got to go watch some soccer (cousins playing) and ultimate frisbee games (daddy playing) and he got to try out his sunhat--it fits well despite being a 12-24 month size!

We don’t go in for a Dr’s appointment this month, but according to our scales Caden is about 17 pounds now and still growing like crazy!
